2. What we collect, feature by feature
Reading our pages
You can read our pages without giving us any personal data. Like any website, our hosting provider processes technical data needed to deliver the pages and keep them secure (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested).
The express check
Your express check answers (places visited, vaccination, dates) and the checklist items you tick are stored only in your browser (localStorage). They are not sent to us. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
Ordering the paid service
While you fill in the order, your draft stays in your browser (sessionStorage) until you pay. When you confirm the order, we receive and store:
- your trip: the countries your dog has been in, the departure country, the rabies vaccination situation, the arrival date, how you arrive and, for a flight, the arrival airport;
- your dog: name, date of birth, whether it has a microchip and whether it is a service dog;
- your contact details: first name, last name, email address and, if you choose to give it, a phone number;
- your consent to these terms and the date of your order.
Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your full card number. We receive the payment status, the amount and a Stripe reference.
Your file and documents
After payment, you open your file with your reference and email address. Depending on your dog’s pathway, you may upload a photo of your dog, rabies vaccination certifications, a titer test result, an animal care facility booking confirmation or a screwworm certificate. These documents may contain personal data, such as your name and address or your vet’s details. To complete the CDC form, we also ask for the details the form requires: your role (owner, shipper…), the type and number of an identification document (passport, driver’s license or air waybill), your date of birth, your phone number, your home address, the address where your dog will stay in the US and, for high-risk dogs, the microchip number and your flight.
When you upload a document, an automatic check by an AI model (run by Infomaniak, in Switzerland) looks at it only to tell whether it is the kind of file expected, for example a photo of a dog or a vaccination certificate. If it clearly is not, the upload is refused and you can choose another file. The check makes no decision about your dog or your file: our team reviews every document.
We also keep the history of your file: its status, our notes on your documents, the CDC receipt and the emails we sent you.
Emails and the contact form
If you write to contact@dogimportform.com or use the contact form at the bottom of each page, we keep your name, email address, message and our reply to handle your request. Contact form messages are received through Netlify Forms.

The CDC. Filing the CDC Dog Import Form means sending the information the form asks for (about you, your dog and your trip) to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, through its official online system. This is the purpose of the service you order. Once submitted, that information is handled by the CDC under US law.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, for example to a court or a public authority.
5. Transfers outside the European Union
Some providers, such as Stripe, Netlify, Cloudflare and Brevo, may process data in the United States or in other countries outside the European Economic Area. When they do, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards under the GDPR, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for details at contact@dogimportform.com.
Sending your information to the CDC is a transfer to the United States that is necessary to perform the contract you asked for (Article 49(1)(b) GDPR).
6. How long we keep your data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Unpaid orders | Deleted after 30 days |

| File records (order details, status history) and invoices | Kept for 10 years, as required by French accounting law |
| Express check answers and checklist ticks | In your browser only, until you clear them |
| Order draft | In your browser only, until payment or until you close the tab |
| File page session cookie | 2 hours |
7. Cookies and browser storage
We use only essential cookies, which do not require your consent:
- dif_track: keeps you signed in to your file page after you enter your reference and email. It expires after 2 hours.
- dif_admin: keeps our team members signed in to our back-office. It is never set for visitors.
We also use your browser’s storage for the express check (localStorage) and for the order draft (sessionStorage), as described above. This data stays on your device.
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Our audience measurement, Plausible Analytics, works without cookies and without collecting personal profiles.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy;
- rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase your data, unless we must keep it by law (for example, invoices);
- restrict how we use it in some cases;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
- receive your data in a structured, commonly used format, or have it sent to another provider (portability).
To exercise these rights, email contact@dogimportform.com with your file reference if you have one. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We answer within one month.
9. Complaints
If you believe we have not respected your rights, you can file a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr (opens in a new tab)), or with the authority of the EU country where you live. We would appreciate the chance to answer your concern first at contact@dogimportform.com.
10. Security
Uploaded documents are stored in a private storage space and are only shown through short-lived secure links. Access to your file page requires your reference and your email address. Access to our back-office is limited to our team.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service or the law changes. We publish the current version on this page.
